A shocking statistic is that 80% of parents think their children are getting enough exercise but in fact less than 10% actually do!

This lack of exercise has been caused partly by the rise of the “playstation culture” which means children just don’t go out and play any more. This has caused a big rise in childhood obesity and related illnesses.

Some parents are worried about the safety of a pogostick but to be honest they aren’t any more dangerous than a bicycle. If we are really honest they are actually safer because then you fall of a pogostick you have more chance of landing on your feet than a bike. When you fall off a bike usually it lands on you resulting in injury.

Naturally, as a parent, you want to make sure your child is safe on their pogostick so you will want to buy them a helmet and maybe some elbow and knee pads. This will ensure they are safe if they do fall off and land on anything other than their feet.

Pogo sticks for kids are a great form of entertainment and exercise. When you children get used to them they will have hours of fun whilst getting some healthy exercise! Crop Circles appear in different parts of the world but you see many more stories about the crop circles that appear in the area of Wiltshire County in the United Kingdom. Whatever cancer treatment we have decided upon, once the initial treatment is over we still have to have regular health check-ups to see how we are going.

Let us look at some of the methods of testing on offer and compare safety aspects and/or accuracy.

Generally doctors offer Ultrasounds, Mammograms, CT Scans or MRI’s.

Ultrasound imaging, or sonography is a non-invasive scan and does not use ionizing radiation (X-rays). Part of the body is exposed to high-frequency sound waves in order to produce pictures of the inside of the body. These images help doctors diagnose and treat medical conditions.

Although there are no known harmful effects on humans, ultrasound, for various reasons is not suitable for testing on the bowel, or on large patients and has difficulty penetrating bone, therefore is not a definitive test for the detection of cancer.

A mammogram uses low doses of radiation to scan breasts and is a diagnostic tool that screens the breast for possible problems and for hidden lumps. This test is highly promoted for the early detection and therefore prevention of breast cancer however, there are some downsides to mammograms, apart from the radiation exposure.

If a woman has high breast density then the mammogram can appear normal even though breast cancer is present producing a false-negative result. Mammograms miss up to approximately 20% of breast cancers that are present at screening.

On the other hand false-positive results can occur when a radiologist believes a mammogram is abnormal but no cancer is actually present.

Significant stress can result from both of these miss-diagnoses, indicating that mammograms are far from ideal as a screening tool.

With CT scanning, numerous x ray beams and a set of electronic x ray detectors rotate around you. It is often the preferred method for diagnosing many different cancers, since the image allows a physician to confirm the presence of a tumour and measure its size, precise location and the extent of the tumour’s involvement with nearby tissue. This is a good test but the body is exposed to radiation with this test and it is expensive.

An MRI scan uses magnetic fields, radio waves and a computer to take pictures of the inside of your body, but does not use radiation like the other scans mentioned. This is also a good test but very expensive.

Often, mammograms, CT Scans and MRI’s are used when symptoms are already there, like an unexplained lump, but what about a safe, non-invasive test for extremely early detection of breast cancer, fibrocystic disease, an infection or a vascular disease and other cancers before a lump or other symptoms appear?

Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) is such a test. DITI detects subtle physiologic changes in your body. It uses no radiation, is painless and has no contact with the body. This test allows the practitioner to visualize changes in skin surface temperature by using an infrared scanning device which converts infrared radiation emitted from the skin’s surface into electrical impulses which can be seen in colour on a computer monitor.

The benefit of this test is that it can alert you to breast disease (and other disorders) much earlier than the usual self examination, doctor examination or any of the aforementioned tests.

DITI can offer protection from cancer developing by detecting and monitoring abnormal physiology years before you, your doctor, mammograms, X-ray, ultrasound, CT scans or MRI’s are able to pick up anything.

This 15 minute test is valuable for alerting your GP or specialist to the possibility of underlying disease, meaning that preventative measures can be taken to stop any cancer before it develops.

If we understand the options available, it will enable us to make informed decisions regarding our on-going health status which is critical following a bout with cancer.

I am a cancer survivor. I used natural alternative remedies to beat my cancer and continue to explore all alternative options regarding healing cancer and on-going maintenance after treatment.

As of the moment we are in the midst of a pretty bad economic recession. People have been losing their jobs, businesses have been going under, and we are hitting record numbers with home foreclosures. To top all of this off we are seeing American consumers hit a record high with credit card debt. Now what most people do not know is that getting out of debt is not all that hard if you take the right steps.

For starters most people do not know what options they have available to them in order to get out of debt, however before going into any of those options debtors must be made aware that pretty much anything they do to get out of debt will have a negative credit effect. Unless the debtor has the money to pay off the debt in full, which ninety nine percent of people do not. The number one priority when trying to get out of debt should be exactly that, getting out of debt, not worrying about keeping a great credit score. A credit score is something that changes like the wind and can be repaired at a later date, and besides when you’re in debt you should not be worrying about how to get yourself into more debt in the future.

With that being said there are two main debt relief programs available to people trying to get out of debt. There is consumer credit counseling and there is debt settlement. Both have their respective pros and cons.

A credit counseling program is one that boasts the benefits of reducing interest and consolidating payments into just one. So instead of making numerous payments throughout the month to your creditors you just make one to the credit counseling agency and they will pay the creditors for you. Plus the creditors will lower the interest on these types of plans. The problem is that for many people the payments will still simply be too much. Often times the payments are just as much if not more than what people are putting out on monthly minimum payments.

With credit counseling people can look to get rid of their debt within 5-7 years and look to pay back around 135% of what they currently owe. Another issue with credit counseling is the low success rate, because if just one payment is missed often times the creditors will kick the consumer off of the program, thus bumping the interest back up. And yes there is a negative effect on the credit, a credit counseling plan will be shown as a code 7 on the credit report which looks bad. But the bottom line is to get out of debt and with this plan money and time will be saved when compared to riding out the monthly minimum payment scheme for what could be decades.

Now there is another debt relief plan called debt settlement. The benefits of this program are the savings of money and time. Most debtors find themselves saving around fifty percent of what they owe today, and can realistically get out of debt in just a few years. The downside to this program is that in order to achieve a debt settlement the consumer must let the accounts fall into default, thus putting the creditors in a position to negotiate a settlement. So obviously this will have a negative effect on the credit score. However once the settlements start coming in the credit score will rebound and repair itself naturally.

Right now with the state of the economy debt settlement has been a very lucrative debt relief method for many people. The creditors have been negotiating very low settlements, much lower than they do when the economy is doing better. Many people are finding they are saving a tremendous amount of money with this option and find themselves getting out of debt very quickly.

Like I said in the title, getting out of debt is not all that hard. The vast majority of people would be able to manage one of these two types of programs. The only thing that holds most people back is the apprehension of their credit score being affected. This is quite a shame that the creditors have so many people kneeling at the alter of FICO, that they do not realize they are losing thousands of dollars to the credit card companies with no end in sight. With the way things have been going in the economy people are going to need all the money they can get and throwing away money to high monthly minimum payments may be the straw that breaks the camels back for millions of American families and puts them into very precarious financial situations.

If you want to keep fit and healthy at all times, then you have to make some active effort. Keeping fit doesn’t only mean looking good from the outside. It means being physically active, mentally sound, and feeling energetic and ready to face the tasks of everyday life.

In order to keep fit and healthy, you don’t have to run for hours, or spend several hours at a gym, or playing football or tennis, or riding a bike. You can start by doing simple exercises. People have all sorts of excuses for not exercising. Most everyone has family, children, and busy work schedules to take care of. However, if you want to stay healthy and live longer, then you have to make some little changes towards a healthy lifestyle.

To keep fit and healthy, follow a healthy and balanced diet everyday. Make sure that your everyday diet includes lots of fruits, vegetables, and protein. You should cut down on red meat, junk foods, caffeine, and sugar intake. Avoid soft drinks or canned fruit juices. Instead, opt for a variety of fresh fruits, vegetable salads, freshly made fruit juices, milk, nutritious energy drinks, etc.

You need to be more active in order to keep fit and healthy. Modern life has become very sedentary, with fewer scopes for physical activities. You need to exercise in order to burn those calories. Minimum physical activity slows down your metabolism rate. So, you can put on weight even when you eat less. On the other hand, exercise and a more active life will burn up the calories, even when you eat a little more. You can simply go for a brisk walk, or jog, or you can join a gym. The important thing is that you must include some physical exercise in your everyday life, because fitness and health cannot be achieved without some physical exercise.

For a healthy life sufficient sleep is important. Lack of sleep can make you feel tired the next day. So work hard, but make sure that you have enough sleep; so that your body gets the time to replenish itself.

Do not skip your breakfast, no matter how busy you are. Breakfast is the first and most important meal of the day. It works as a fuel for your body and keeps you going for the rest of day. If you skip breakfast, you will feel hungrier in the latter part of the day, and you may end up eating more! So, you may run a risk of gaining weight, if you skip your breakfast frequently.

If you are not a healthy eater and find it difficult to improve your food habits due to busy, erratic, work schedules, then you may be depriving your body of the essential nutrients that are important for good health. In the long run, unhealthy food habits can lead you to serious health hazards. An easy solution to this problem is to include multi-vitamin supplements in your daily food intake. Multi-vitamins can be taken to replenish the nutritional deficiencies in your daily diet.

Following these simple but effective rules will enable you to keep fit and healthy at all times.

Exercise is an important part of any weight loss regimen. But with busy schedules, we all want to know which exercises will help us lose the most weight quickly.

Broadly, there are two types of exercises: aerobic and strength training (or anaerobic), and each one contributes differently to weight loss. Aerobic exercise burns fat calories while you are engaged in the exercise itself. On the other hand, strength training primarily contributes to weight loss by helping to increase the speed of your resting metabolic rate (RMR), which is the number of calories your body burns while you are at rest. Your RMR actually increases (i.e., burns more calories) the more muscular your body is because it takes much more energy to maintain muscles than it does to maintain fat.

Important note: remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so some strength training exercises will make you healthier and more attractive while not necessarily contributing to weight loss. But, muscles are a “good” kind of weight and you should aim to build more muscle in order to help keep body fat at bay.

Here are 5 tips for exercises – both aerobic and strength training – you can do at home to lose weight quickly.

Tip #1: Squats: Your buttocks and leg muscles are the largest muscles in your body. Every day in front of the mirror, put your feet at shoulder width while facing forward and squat down-and-up 10-20 times for 2 or 3 sets. This will build your leg and buttock muscles. As you build up strength, try holding 2 or 5 pound dumbbells in your hands while you work out. Be sure to warm up first, and stop if you notice any sharp pain in your knees.

Tip #2: Pushups: Pushups are a form of strength training: during a pushup your arms have to support up to 70% of your body weight. Do 2 or 3 sets of 20 pushups to build arm strength and increase your RMR.

Tip #3: Jumping jacks: Jumping jacks are an excellent whole-body aerobic workout you can do right at home. Do 4 or 5 sets of 20 jumping jacks, or as needed. Hint: if you live in an apartment or stay in a second-story bedroom, be considerate of your neighbors by going outside or doing these in a first story room.

Tip #4: Fast walking: While walking is in itself a great aerobic exercise, fast walking is even better for burning fat. Make sure you really stretch first and warm up with regular walking. Once you start your faster walking pace, try to maintain as much speed as possible for as long as you can. If you get tired, try doing intervals of fast walking followed by short periods of slower walking.

Tip #5: Stepping: Stepping is a great way to get your heart beating and to burn calories. You can use your stairs at home, but for best results I suggest buying specialized stackable step mats and stack them up to at least 15 inches (38 cm). Do 2 to 3 sets of 20 steps each to begin. Even though you may not feel like the stepping is helping, it is! This exercise will not only help you lose weight but will also help shape up your buttocks and legs.

An important element in a strategy to lose weight quickly at home is to do a combination of exercises that build muscles (strength training) while burning fat (aerobic exercises). Start a regimen of most or all of these exercises 2-3 days/week and watch the unhealthy fat melt away.
